Flashing LED codes

Most Common Tumble Dryer Issues and Their Error Codes

Encountering error codes or blinking LED lights on your Hotpoint tumble dryer can be frustrating. Understanding these codes is crucial for diagnosing and fixing issues quickly. Our guide is here to help you decipher these codes and get your dryer back to optimal performance.

Drive Belt: A malfunctioning drive belt can cause your dryer to stop spinning or make unusual noises. Check the drive belt for wear and tear and replace it if necessary.
Door Switch and Door Latch: If your tumble dryer is not starting, the door switch or door latch might be faulty. Ensure the dryer door is fully closed and the latch is engaging correctly. Always close the door securely before starting the cycle.
Heating Element: An error code related to the heating element typically means it's not heating up. Inspect the heating element for any damage and consider replacing it if it's faulty.
Motor Overheating: If the dryer shuts off unexpectedly, the motor might be overheating. Ensure proper ventilation and check if the motor needs servicing.
Control Board: Issues with the control board can result in error codes and malfunctioning controls. A faulty control board might need replacement to restore proper function.
Moisture Sensor: The moisture sensor might malfunction if your dryer isn't drying clothes correctly. Ensure the sensor is clean and functioning correctly for accurate drying.
Lint Filter and Lint Screen: A clogged lint filter or lint screen can cause your dryer to overheat or operate inefficiently. To prevent such issues, regularly clean the lint filter and lint screen.
Vent System: A blocked vent system can hinder airflow and cause error codes. Check the vent system for blockages and clean it regularly.
Power Cord and Unplug the Dryer: Ensure the power cord is securely connected. If error codes persist, try unplugging the dryer for a few minutes to reset the system.
Check the Circuit Breaker: Sometimes, error codes are triggered by a tripped circuit breaker. Make sure to check and reset the circuit breaker if necessary.
